Devin Kelly

Devin Kelly is a freelance percussionist based out of Los Angeles, California. A native of Ithaca, New York, Devin began studying music at an early age. His studies led him to the State University of New York at Geneseo where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in percussion (2000). Devin received a Master of Music degree in drumset performance from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York (2005). While at Eastman, Devin was a member of the Eastman Jazz Ensemble and the Eastman Studio Orchestra, both under the direction of Bill Dobbins.
Mr. Kelly has shared the stage with Clark Terry, Bob Brookmeyer, Barry Harris, Eric Reed, Wessel "Warm Daddy" Anderson, Gary Foster, Bob Sheppard, Stacy Rowles, Sam Most, John Campbell, Julie Kelly, Judy Wexler and many other jazz luminaries. Devin leads an organ trio made up of Rochester, New York based guitarist Bob Sneider (Chuck Mangione, Nat Adderley, Gene Ludwig & Lou Donaldson) and Elmira, New York based organist Dino Losito (Houston Person, Eric Alexander, Nancy Kelly & Joe Romano). The group's debut album, entitled "First Things First" was released by DPK Records in December, 2008. Devin is also a member of the piano-less, West-Coast jazz influenced quartet The Left Side Four. The group's first recording, "Introducing The Left Side Four" is scheduled for release in 2009. Recordings as a sideman include the 2005 MHR Records release "The Pulse: The Music of Bob Stata".
Devin has toured nationally and internationally as a pit orchestra member for several Broadway and Off-Broadway productions. Most recently Mr. Kelly played drumset in the orchestra for the 2003 international tour of "Barry Manilow's Copacabana", produced by Windwood Theatricals Inc.
In addition to performance, Mr. Kelly is also an educator specializing in private and group percussion instruction. He maintains a private teaching studio and is also on the faculty at the Amadeus Music Academy, a college preparatory school located in Santa Monica, California. Devin is an E-Pad practice pad endorser.
